Kids In Action - Elementary After School Program

Mission: To provide our children with quality programming that strives to meet each child's physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs in a safe, nurturing environment.
 
Program Site Locations: Programs are located at the following elementary schools: Cowan Road, Crescent, Futral Road, Jordan Hill, Moreland Road and Orrs. Anne Street students are bused to Orrs to participate in the program. Atkinson students are bused to Jordan Hill to participate in the program. Beaverbrook students are bused to Cowan Road to participate in the program. Jackson Road students are bused to Futral Road to participate in the program.

Times of Operation: The program operates each day school is in session from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the exception of early release days.  Children may attend the program on a weekly or drop-in basis if space is available.

Registration: The registration fee is $10.00 per child and is good for the current school year.

Tuition 
Weekly rate: Tuition is $40.00 per week for the first child and $30.00 for each additional child.  Tuition is due by Monday at 6:00 p.m. of the week of service. If tuition is paid >after Monday at 6:00 p.m. of the week of service, a late fee of $15.00 will be charged <>regardless of the reason the payment was late. If payment is not made by Friday, the child will not be able to attend until the balance is paid in full. Bi-weekly and monthly payments are accepted.

Drop-in rate: The drop-in rate is $15.00 per day/per child.

Financial Assistance: Financial assistance may be available for working parents or parents attending a technical college thru the Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS) program. Please call the Department of Family and Children’s Services at 770-228-1386 for more information.

Sample Daily Schedule: The daily schedule includes a nutritious snack, a designated homework/academic time and planned club activities. Club activities may include arts and crafts, sports, drama, science, computers, food activities, games, dance, theme activities, etc.

To Register: To guarantee enrollment, registration must be completed during Open House, which is held the week before school opens for a new school year.

Once school has started, a child may be registered if space is available at the elementary site locations listed above between the hours of 3:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the School and Community Services office located at 214 S. 6th Street, Griffin (Superintendent's Office). Registration must be completed each school year for the child to participate in the program.  If you are registering your child the same day that he/she needs to report to after-school, registration must be completed before2:00 p.m. at the School and Community Services office located at the address listed above.
