Positive Behavior Intervention SupportTop of Page

In the past several years, Griffin-Spalding County Schools has developed a successful Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) system. PBIS was established to address the behavioral  systems needed for successful learning and social development of students. The school-wide system includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. A system of acknowledgements will help motivate students to try their best and to encourage others as well. One important piece of PBIS is to create a set of 3-5 school rules that are well known to all affiliated with our school. The PBIS team created an acronym, COLTS CARE, to help disseminate those rules. Out motto reads ...
  • C - Colts
  • A - Are
  • R - Respectful, Responsible, Resourceful
  • E - Everywhere!
This recognition will be noted through the acknowledgement system used for students who are "CARE"-ing at our school. Students will be working toward following the "COLTS CARE" in the five areas of our school (Classroom, Cafeteria, Hallway, Restroom and Recess). As part of our acknowledgement system, teachers, monitors, and school staff will distribute colored COLT CASH to students who exhibit these positive behaviors, Throughout the year, students will be able to redeem their "COLT CASH" for special events and prizes.
